GAIL Network Ltd

Edinburgh

Verilance.ai is the living compliance layer for agentic AI: a regulatory reasoning engine that continuously validates enterprise AI systems against the regulations that apply to them. It is a trading name of Global AI Leaders Network Ltd (GAIL), registered in Scotland, based in Edinburgh.

Enterprises are deploying AI agents faster than compliance can track them. Most large organisations assume they run five to ten AI systems; the real number is closer to thirty to fifty. These systems make consequential decisions constantly, yet traditional governance is static, periodic and reactive. When a regulator asks what an agent did and why, most cannot answer. The gap is now a board-level liability as AI regulation spreads across 70-plus jurisdictions.

Verilance.ai closes it. It converts primary legislation into machine-readable rules, assesses each AI system against them, and produces a defensible readiness score (1 to 100), traceable article by article to the law. It generates a prioritised remediation plan with named owners and monitors for regulatory and model changes. Every score carries a full audit trail to the exact paragraph of law. Verilance.ai sits above tools such as ServiceNow, OneTrust and IBM: they record what AI exists; Verilance.ai proves whether it operates legally.

It targets the sectors with the highest regulatory exposure and largest AI footprint. Financial services leads: banks, insurers, asset managers and fintechs, with heavy overlap across the EU AI Act, DORA, FCA Consumer Duty and NIST AI RMF. Life sciences, regulated technology and professional services follow. The engine is regulation-agnostic by design, so new regimes mean adding content, not rebuilding.

The AI trust, risk and governance market is expected to reach $7.4bn by 2030 (~22% CAGR), driven by EU AI Act transparency duties from August 2026 and penalties up to €35m or 7% of turnover from December 2027. Verilance.ai is pre-seed, SEIS and EIS-assured, and backed by Scottish Enterprise.

We initially launched the business as the Global AI Leaders Network, a community of senior AI leaders from the world’s largest enterprises. Over the last 2 years we have successfully built a series of special interest groups that meet quarterly and discuss the issues / opportunities facing AI amongst brands such as Coca-Cola, Diageo, Sanofi, Unilever, Pfizer, and Danone.

Around 15 months ago two things converged.
Firstly we found that one particular topic was emerging as a key issue for all our clients – trust. Business after business complained about the same thing : AI pilots were showing real promise but failed to scale, because leaders could not be sure the systems would behave legally, or prove to a regulator what steps they had taken. I.e. we had a very strong market need.

Secondly, engaged with Gerard Frith, an old friend / colleague who had spent the last eight years as innovation director for a number of major UK law firms. With over 20 years of experience in AI and a deep understanding of the regtech space, Gerard was able to see something that many others had missed – namely, AI could automate the very compliance function that was blocking its own adoption. I.e. he had an understanding of how to fix that need

Together these insights led us to pivot from community group, to compliance product.

Over the last 15 months we have gone from seed to an incredibly solid MVP. We have an architecture that answers the question “how compliant is your business?”. We have also honed in the offer to answer a very specific problem – “how compliant is your AI?”

We are now at trial stage for the MVP, in discussions with legal firms about validating the core model, and preparing for fuller trials in Q4 to showcase the end-to-end solution.

Verilance.ai is Scotland-registered, SEIS/EIS-assured, and is raising its angel round to help us develop the concept. We are particularly keen to find financial services firms that would be willing to act as pilot partner.
