2i is the UK’s largest specialist quality assurance consultancy, headquartered in Edinburgh and focused on helping organisations deliver technology change safely, securely and with confidence.
We work with clients across Financial Services and other regulated sectors, supporting complex transformation agendas including core platform modernisation, digital customer journeys, data transformation, operational resilience and AI enabled capabilities. Our role is to provide independent assurance across the delivery lifecycle, giving senior stakeholders confidence that change is well controlled, well evidenced and aligned to customer, business and regulatory expectations.
Our core differentiation is independence. In a market where testing services are often embedded within delivery teams or tied to specific tools, 2i provides objective, unbiased assurance. This is particularly important in Financial Services, where the cost of failure is high, customer impact can be significant and regulatory scrutiny continues to increase.
2i has evolved beyond traditional testing. While we retain deep capability in functional testing, automation, performance testing and Quality Engineering, our proposition is increasingly centred on broader assurance. This reflects the changing nature of digital risk, including increased system integration complexity, AI adoption, resilience expectations and the need for stronger evidence across major change programmes.
Following the acquisitions of nFocus and Planit UK, 2i has strengthened its scale, geographic reach and delivery capability. Today, we combine deep technical expertise, sector insight and delivery experience to support clients from early stage design validation through to implementation, testing, operational readiness and ongoing resilience.
As innovation accelerates, our purpose remains clear, to provide independent assurance that enables organisations to innovate with confidence and deliver change that is safe, reliable and trusted.
2i was founded with a simple objective, to improve the quality and reliability of technology delivery by providing specialist testing expertise independent of software development teams.
In its early years, 2i established a strong reputation in Quality Engineering, building deep capability across functional testing, test automation and performance testing. Financial Services has been central to that journey, alongside work across other sectors, helping 2i build long term relationships based on trust, discipline and technical expertise.
As technology evolved, particularly within Financial Services, the nature of delivery risk changed. Systems became more complex, interconnected and critical to business operations. At the same time, regulatory expectations increased, and organisations faced growing scrutiny around resilience, security, customer outcomes and evidence supporting major change.
In response, 2i expanded beyond testing into broader assurance. Clients needed confidence across the full lifecycle, not only at the point of test execution. Assurance needed to begin earlier, connect business and technology risk, and provide clearer evidence to senior stakeholders.
Recent strategic acquisitions have strengthened 2i’s scale, capability and reach. They have also enhanced the organisation’s ability to support larger and more complex programmes, including offshore delivery capability where appropriate.
Today, 2i is headquartered in Edinburgh and has a strategic focus on Financial Services and other regulated sectors. Current investment is focused on structured Assurance Capabilities and AI Accelerators, helping organisations adopt digital and AI enabled change with confidence while addressing trust, resilience and regulatory compliance challenges.
Throughout its journey, 2i has remained committed to independent assurance. That principle continues to differentiate the organisation and underpin its role as a trusted advisor helping clients navigating complex change.
