Struan provides fully managed AI employees that automate back-office processes and execute compliance-heavy workflows for organisations operating in regulated and process-intensive environments. The business was founded to address the growing gap between operational workload and available human capacity, particularly in sectors where accuracy, auditability and consistency are critical.
Many organisations rely on fragmented manual processes to support activities such as customer onboarding, compliance checks, reporting, finance operations, marketing operations and sales administration. As these organisations scale, the volume and complexity of this work often increases faster than teams can grow, leading to delays, rising costs, inconsistent execution and increased operational risk.
Struan exists to take ownership of this work as a managed service, rather than providing software for clients to run themselves. Struan’s AI employees are deployed to run defined processes end to end within a client’s existing systems and controls. This includes back-office process automation and the autonomous execution of workflows that are repetitive, time-consuming and compliance-led. Each AI employee is designed to deliver consistent, repeatable outcomes, with clear governance and oversight, and is deployed, monitored and managed by Struan on an ongoing basis. Clients include financial services businesses and other compliance-led industries where operational reliability and data integrity are non-negotiable.
Outcomes delivered by Struan include faster turnaround times, improved data quality, reduced operational bottlenecks and clearer visibility across core processes. This allows organisations to scale operations, reduce risk and increase throughput without the cost, complexity or overhead of hiring, managing or building internal automation capability.
Struan was created to address a recurring problem seen across regulated and process-heavy organisations: operational workload increasing faster than teams can scale, particularly in areas where accuracy, auditability and consistency are critical.
The insight behind Struan emerged while building PlacingTrades, an AI-first trading automation business operating in a highly regulated and execution-sensitive environment. Running PlacingTrades exposed the limits of traditional operating models. Adding headcount, outsourcing work or relying on disconnected software tools increased cost and complexity without delivering reliable execution. To operate safely at scale, the business required a different approach to ownership and control of day-to-day operations.
In response, an internal operating model was developed based on an agentic, hierarchical structure. AI employees were assigned ownership of defined functions, operating within clear rules, approval gates and escalation paths. This allowed core back-office and compliance-led workflows to be executed consistently without dependence on manual intervention or individual knowledge. It became clear that this operating model was not unique to a trading platform, but applicable across many organisations facing similar operational pressures.
Struan was formed to apply this approach more broadly as a managed service, rather than as software clients would need to configure and run themselves. Today, Struan provides fully managed AI employees that automate back-office processes and execute compliance-heavy workflows for financial services businesses and other compliance-led industries. The company focuses on dependable, auditable execution across functions such as marketing operations, sales administration, customer support, finance operations, reporting and regulatory processes. Struan has grown by applying the same principles proven internally: clear ownership, controlled execution and measurable outcomes.
