US-based InsurTech Corridor initiative to visit Edinburgh for FinTech Scotland Festival 

A US and UK tech initiative designed to accelerate access for UK firms to the US has partnered with FinTech Scotland to bring US insurance technology experts to Edinburgh on 6^th and 7^th October as part of the FinTech Scotland Festival. 

Launched in 2022, the InsurTech Corridor is a non-profit collaboration between the UK and Connecticut, which has already assisted more than 20 scaling UK insurtech, fintech, climatetech and legaltech ventures connect into the US insurance and financial services ecosystem.

Scottish tech firms will be able to meet the Hartford, Connecticut and Boston-based team at a meeting of fintech leaders hosted with the Scottish Business Network on the evening of 6^th October, as well as for one-to-one meetings during the Scottish Fintech Summit and the Scottish Financial Technology Awards at the EICC.  

The six-strong US InsurTech Corridor delegation is led by chief business investment officer at the MetroHartford Alliance, Gene Goddard, and Mike Hendy, a former fintech executive and now senior trade officer at the British Consulate in Boston, who leads the support of UK tech firms in insurance, financial services and climate and regulatory markets.  

Aleks Tomczyk, Chief Executive of FinTech Scotland said “The insurance market is a vital part of many tech firms’ US expansion plan, and we are keen to help showcase the support that Scottish tech firms can access at no cost via the InsurTech Corridor. We have a number of businesses in insurtech, as well as risk and climate tech ventures, that are targeting the insurance sector in the US, and we are keen to share this knowledge and connect any firms from the region with this US-based team.” 

“We wanted to come and meet scaling insurtechs and fintechs from all over the UK, and we are excited to collaborate on events and hold meetings in Edinburgh. Many Scottish tech firms have huge opportunities in the US and within the insurance market in particular,” said Gene Goddard. 

“Whether you are a pure-play insurtech, or a wider fintech, climate tech or legaltech, if you have an opportunity within the US market, especially in the huge insurance market, we want to see if we can help you make faster progress in the market over there,” added Mike Hendy.
