Introduction
TSB Labs

TSB Labs
TSB Labs is an award winning fintech accelerator with a focus on launching fintech propositions. For 2025 we want to work with fintechs to reduce fraud, enhance customer trust and build the future of banking. Fraud is evolving fast and so is TSB.
TSB Labs is designed to surface, support, and scale the next generation of fintech solutions that reduce fraud losses, protect customers, and enhance trust in digital banking.
We’re inviting fintechs, startups, and innovators from across the UK and beyond to help solve critical, industry-wide challenges with the opportunity to co-develop and pilot solutions in a real banking environment.
Whether you’re building the next breakthrough in customer communication, data-driven decision making, or frictionless fraud education, we want to hear from you.
Challenge statements
These statements frame the core themes for this year’s Labs programme. They’re broad by design to invite fresh thinking and uncover solutions we may not have imagined yet.
Challenge 1
Smart messaging and education

Smart messaging and education
How might we deliver timely, trusted and effective messages to help customers detect and avoid fraud, without interrupting their experience or overwhelming them?
Context:
We are looking to collaborate with fintechs to explore smarter communication strategies that support customers before, during and after their payment journeys. This includes:
- Personalised, context-aware fraud education that helps customers spot and avoid scams without creating fear or fatigue
- Secure, next-generation messaging solutions (such as RCS or other trusted channels) that strengthen real-time communication and stop fraud before it starts
- Embedded messaging interventions at the point of payment that reduce scam success rates while preserving the seamlessness of the payment experience
- Tools that help customers better understand and recognise their transactions (for example, recurring payments or card-on-file activity), so they can more accurately assess what is legitimate
Challenge 2
Empowered Customer Controls and Accuracy

Empowered Customer Controls and Accuracy
Challenge:
How might we empower customers and fraud teams to make faster, smarter decisions about authorised payments— reducing transaction uncertainty, alerts and friction?
Context:
We are looking to partner with fintechs to reduce false positives and fraud claims by supporting better decision-making on both sides. This includes:
- Tools that help customers manage and review recurring or subscription-based payments at a convenient time, putting them in control and reducing post-payment disputes
- Enhanced transaction clarity that gives customers the context they need to recognise legitimate charges without needing to raise a claim
- Triage, overlay or decision-support tools that help fraud teams focus attention where it matters most, reducing alert fatigue and improving outcomes
Challenge 3
Seamless Resolution and Internal Efficiency

Seamless Resolution and Internal Efficiency
Challenge:
How might we simplify fraud resolution for both customers and teams, reducing complexity, boosting clarity and delivering outcomes faster?
Context:
We are looking to collaborate with fintechs to reimagine fraud reporting and investigation as a streamlined, end-to-end journey. This includes:
- Creative customer experience solutions that make fraud and dispute reporting straightforward and transparent, with clear communication on next steps and timelines
- Operational tools that improve internal workflows, automate repetitive tasks and allow fraud analysts to spend more time preventing risk, not chasing it
- Solutions that connect the dots across the chargeback and dispute resolution journey, making life easier for customers, banks and partners alike
Applications
We want to hear from fintechs, startups, innovators, or scaleups working on practical, scalable solutions that address any of the challenges we’re focusing on.
You might be:
• Looking for your next proof-of-concept opportunity
• Ready to scale with a bank partner that shares your ambition
If your innovation can make an impact in fraud prevention, customer trust, or operational efficiency we want to hear from you.
A key priority of TSB Labs is to launch pilots and proof of concepts, we’re looking to collaborate with fintechs who are able to deploy their solution in a retail banking environment and we’re not suited to fintechs who are launching their first MVP.
