Who we are
Broker Insights are an independent, Scottish insurtech founded in early 2018 by Fraser Edmond, ex-Aviva Head of Distribution and Iain Crole, ex-Aviva Head of Regional Broker Sales. Backed by Chris van der Kuyl and his business partner Paddy Burns, we’ve developed the first ever commercial insurance platform that uses market data and analytics to connect major insurers with business opportunities held by regional brokers.
How does commercial insurance work?
Commercial insurance is different to personal insurance. Businesses who need insurance often buy through a broker because the requirements are complex. Insurers work directly with the broker to deliver the best product for the end customer, the business. The broker is key to ensuring the end customer is correctly insured with the best deal for their needs.

Commercial insurers operate in partial darkness without the time, resource and budget to serve the whole broker market. Without an accurate view of the broker market, insurers traditionally focus efforts on large national brokers who make up the top 20%.
