Syngrafii was created to solve a fundamental challenge that continues to confront financial institutions, legal professionals, and regulated industries globally: how to conduct secure, compliant, and legally enforceable remote signing of documents while preserving the evidentiary strength of a traditional wet-ink signature.

The company’s origins date back to the early 2000s, when co-founder Matthew M. Gibson, in collaboration with Canadian author Margaret Atwood, envisioned a solution that would enable individuals to sign books or documents from anywhere in the world, without the need for physical presence.

This vision materialized in the development of the LongPen™, a robotic signing device capable of applying live wet-ink signatures remotely. Margaret Atwood is one of Canada’s most celebrated authors, best known internationally for her novels The Handmaid’s Tale, Oryx and Crake, and The Testaments. Matthew Gibson is the CEO and co-founder of Syngrafii,  With a background in law, technology, and digital innovation, Matthew has led Syngrafii from its inception as a concept enabling remote wet-ink signatures into a globally recognized platform serving the financial, legal, and public sectors.

Under his leadership, Syngrafii has built a robust patent portfolio and developed a suite of technologies—including the LongPen™, Video Signing Room™ (VSR™), and iinked Sign™—that address complex compliance needs in regulated environments. His vision has been instrumental in positioning Syngrafii as a leader in digital signature solutions that meet evidentiary and regulatory standards across jurisdictions.

Tony Canapini CFO

Tony Canapini is the Chief Financial Officer of Syngrafii, bringing over three decades of executive experience across finance, technology, and operational strategy. As CFO, he plays a key role in Syngrafii’s growth, overseeing financial management, governance, and global expansion initiatives.

Prior to joining Syngrafii, Tony held senior leadership roles in both public and private companies across North America, including CEO and President positions at prominent tech and service firms. His expertise in scaling innovative businesses and navigating complex regulatory environments has been instrumental in strengthening Syngrafii’s position as a trusted provider of compliant e-signature and identity verification solutions.

Phil Grady CRO

Phil Grady is the CRO at Syngrafii and a recognised leader in the UK fintech sector. He is best known as the founder and former CEO of Castlight Financial, the pioneering open banking and affordability insights platform that was acquired by Experian. At Castlight, Phil led the development of cutting-edge tools that transformed credit risk assessment and financial inclusion in the UK.

Now advising Syngrafii, Phil brings deep expertise in financial services innovation, regulatory technology, and data-driven compliance. His focus is on supporting Syngrafii’s  market strategy—helping to align the company’s remote signing and identity verification solutions with the demands of open finance, digital onboarding, and anti-money laundering frameworks.

Ravi dave cto

Ravi is the Chief Technology Officer with over 13 years of experience at Syngrafii. He is accountable for the product development and support team and integration with key customers and strategic partners.

Under Ravi’s leadership, Syngrafii has developed and launched the Syngrafii LongPen Suite of products and the Syngrafii e-signature platform: sPaper wdhich includes the proprietary Video Signing Room and best in class MasterFile Audit Trail.

Ravi graduated from the University of Toronto with a Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering and has particular experience in web and mobile development on multiple platforms including iOS, Android and Windows. Ravi has Project Management and Technical Architecture expertise on large scale software development projects and extensive experience with the Cisco Networking Infrastructure.
