Our Story 2009-2018

Our story began in 2009 when Nathan Dornbrook, our CTO, founded  a cyber security services consultancy called Vacta (meaning “a shift on watch” in old Norse).

Vacta had 3 founding principals,

•To make the world a safer place.
•To build a sustainable business.
•To help closing the UK skills gap by providing opportunities for employment for new and emerging talent.

By October of 2012, the start-up team had grown to include our CEO David Calder. At this point, Vactajoined the ECS Group and in joining them rebranded to ECS Security.

Between 2012 and 2018, ECS Security’s portfolio developed, its ’enterprise’ client base expandedand the team grew to over two hundred people, continuing the mission to provide high-quality security solutions ; Professional Services and Managed

Adarma 2019 to today

Having received investment from Private Equity firm LivingBridge, in 2019 the ECS Security management team performed a management buyout from ECS Group, in order to establish a new specialist security company, which was rebranded as Adarma.

Adarma means : ADARMA comes from the Latin ad (“to”) + arma (“arms weapons”), in English meaning ‘a call to arms’.

(A ‘call to arms’ definition by Merriam Webster means ‘a summons to engage in active hostilities; to prepare for confrontation’.)

This definition represents the security we offer our customers, preparing them for attack and standing side-by-side with them as a trusted partner when attacks happen and supports one of our founding principles, to make the world a safer place for our customers.

Adarma is now one of the leading independent security companies in the UK, with a client base of FTSE 350 customers, several key strategic technology partners, and a rapidly growing, highly experienced team of over 350 staff.

We have continued to win a variety of partner, industry and business awards and recognition, from Splunk Partner of The Year 2019, CRN’s Rising Stars 2020 and FT1000 Europe’s Fastest Growing Companies 2020.

Services delivered using industry leading security technologies.
