Government

The fintech sector in Scotland is one of the top priorities for the Scottish government. It fits within the bigger Data Driven Innovation agenda whose objective is to make Scotland the data capital of Europe to drive economic growth and job creation.

A priority for the Scottish government

The Scottish Government was one of the driving forces behind the creation of FinTech Scotland. The Financial Services Advisory Board, chaired by the First Minister established the need for an independent organisation to maximise Scotland’s fintech potential. The Scottish Government is committed to supporting the development of a thriving fintech ecosystem.

Kate Forbes

Minister for the Digital Economy and Public Finances

“We have provided FinTech Scotland with £250,000 over the next two years to leverage further industry and academic support to realise our ambition to see Scotland in the top 10 international Fintech centres by 2021.”
