Swipii was founded in 2014 by friends Louis Schena and Chitresh Sharma, who met while studying at Glasgow’s Strathclyde University. They developed a loyalty product that enabled small businesses to compete with larger high street competitors, through technology.

Swipii has evolved since its early days, and with Schena at the helm as CEO, Swipii is now a powerful cashback app. The app continues to support local businesses, connecting them with their local consumers. Swipii also ensure the whole community wins, rewarding consumers with cashback for shopping locally.

Louis Schena (Founder & CEO)

Founded Swipii whilst completing an MSc in International Marketing at the University of Strathclyde in 2014 on the back of his dissertation “An international comparison of factors influencing the behaviours of online group-buying during the 2008 recession and years to come.”

Louis was COO of Swipii until Chitresh’s departure from the company last year and stepped up into the CEO role in August. Louis is French/American with an international outlook. (​https://www.linkedin.com/in/louisschena/​).

Why I started Swipii: ​“90% of all global purchases still happen offline and yet technology mostly serves the online space. Past technologies were never able to enhance the in-store experience seamlessly enough to get traction. Especially in a way to serve the fragmented market of SMEs, which represent 99% of most countries’ economies. Today it exists, Swipii has it and is first in line to deliver it to the world!”

 

Dave Senior (Director of Operations): ​

Joined the Company in May 2019 from Skyscanner, where he was Senior Operations Manager for 6 years. Prior to Skyscanner, Dave had more than 11 years’ experience in software development and project management with Agilent Technologies and Standard Life (​https://www.linkedin.com/in/dave-senior-b538592/​)

Neil Ross (Senior Engineering Manager):

His role at Swipii is to help grow and develop the individuals in the product development team and to support them in building systems that will scale as the company scales. He joined the company in April 2020 from Skyscanner, where he was a Senior Engineering Manager for 7.5 years. Prior to Skyscanner, Neil had over 20 years of experience working in other companies including two other successful startups as well as already established multinational companies such as BT. Why I joined Swipii – ​“Prior to Swipii I had worked for three other successful Scottish based startups – and I was keen on using my experience to help another on its journey. I was drawn to Swipii’s product and the fact that there was a clear two sided flywheel aimed at helping both consumers like me and small businesses. Joe Afif (Product Manager)​:

Joined the company in December 2019 after a stint of consulting with two early-stage startups to help them develop a product-market fit and achieve commercialisation. Mark Logan (Non-Executive Director):

Joined the Board of Directors of Swipii in October 2018. Mark has over 25 years’ experience with highly successful startups and tier-1 internet tech companies. Mark was previously COO of Skyscanner, joining in 2012 and leading the business to a £1.5 billion exit in 2016. Prior to Skyscanner, Mark held senior/director engineering roles with BT, Cisco and Sumerian.
